The 50th Anniversary

Anchored with the theme “BMPC @ 50. Greater Opportunities, Legacy and Development”, the Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative celebrated 50 fruitful
years of serving the community last May 20,2015 at the Barbaza, Antique to witness the celebration.

The activity commences with a “pamukaw” around the municipality at around 4:00 in the morning which signifies that the joyous celebration has started.

Members from Aklan area and Northern Antique gathered at Dalanas bridge where they started their caravan from Guinsang-an all the to the venue.

Simultaneously health and social service was held including the medical and dental mission. Bloodletting program and free haircut was also given. All members present at the venue as well as non-members benefited from the said activity.

Holy mass was celebrated in the municipal covered court at around 11:00 in the morning wherein Rev. Fr. Jose Glicerio Gerimea was the main celebrant. It was co-celebrated by Rev. Fr.. Victor Baguna and Rev. Fr. Erineo Abong.

After the holy mass, the community luncheon was served.

Later afternoon, Coop quiz bowl was held at around 1:00 pm which was participated by those representatives from nine branches. After the event, participants from Barbaza emerged as champion followed by Sibalom Branch and Balasan Branch as 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Raffle draw was also held wherein 50 lucky members received Php. 1000 each and three trycicles was given to one lucky member of Barbaza Branch and two members of San Jose Branch.

Moreover, the much anticipated Bingo game was held and enjoyed by the members. Major prizes such as two piglets were won by one of the members of Barbaza branch a kid was won by a member of Molo Branch and a generator by Brabaza branch as well.

To highlight the celebration, the Coop Night was held Senator Lito Lapid, the Senate Committee on Cooperatives and Pampanga Representative Mark Lapid serves as resource speakers. Atty Amel Agrasada of the Cooperative Development Authority- Region VI was also present and delivers a message recognizing the milestone that the BMPC has achieved to date.

Thus, the Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative is looking forward for the greater opportunities in the next 50 years and to leave a legacy for continuous development of the community.
